James Gibb
My background has been in audio and in combining both audio technology and youth work, having spent the last four years
working in the Caley Centre, Stevenston as a Studio Technician for North Ayrshire Council. In this role I am responsible for the
maintenance of two recording studios, a rehearsal room and a digital music suite. I am also responsible for the development and
delivery of a variety of audio technology and music workshops as well as the coordination of staff and resources for these
workshops. Through my work I have developed the ability to coordinate both resources and personal to both a timetable and a
budget and to be able to engage young people within a structured programme.
I have a previous background in studio recording and live sound engineering working in a variety of different venues with a
variety of different acts. This can involve having to work with and negotiate with a wide mix of people and personalities often to a
tight schedule. I also have experience of audio technology course delivery via lecturing for James Watt College, both in the
Greenock campus and in Radio City in Kilburnie. I would describe the skills that I can bring to the group as experience, the
ability to work with others and organisational skills.
My area of individual concern within Get Connected is the construction, development and delivery of workshops mainly relating
to audio and the use of audio manipulation packages. This is done in close coordination with the video workshop development
and delivery as the two are often integrated within a programme. I also liaison with the marketing and promotion in ensuring that
the literature associated with Get Connected is technically correct.
